On Friday i.e. on August 20, 2010, result of BCA (Bachelor of Computer Applications) IV Semester (BP) examination is announced by Jiwaji University in Gwalior. Jiwaji University, Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, is one of the renowned universities of the state. Established in the year 1964, it is a residential cum affiliating University. It has been accredited with ‘Four Star’ status by National Accreditation and Accreditation council (NAAC), Bangalore, for its academic excellence.

Aptech Computer Education has announced the launch of a BSc Degree in Computer Applications in association with Manonmaniam Sundaranar University (MS University), Tirunelveli.
The objective of this program is to produce full-fledged IT professionals with the skills and confidence to build a rewarding career for themselves. It is aimed at training students in the latest industry-relevant modules with the latest technical educational tools to accelerate their career development. It has an intensive course curriculum as well as collaborative and experiential training which are designed to give every student that unique competitive edge in the IT industry.

The course curriculum would include all modules from Aptech Computer Education’s flagship program – the Aptech Certified Computer Programmers (ACCP) – and four mandatory modules from MS University viz. English Language and an elective 2nd language as mentioned in the university prospectus, and 2 papers of soft skills.

Bachelor of Business Management (BBM) and Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) courses would be offered by Bangalore University (BU) through the distance learning mode from the ensuing academic year.

Distance Education Council (DEC) has approved the BBM and BCA courses for the university. Presently, the university is waiting for the approval of Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Computer Applications (MCA) courses under the distance education. Moreover, the syllabus for BBM and BCA has also been accepted by the university under the semester scheme.

‘A’ level course of DOEACC Scheme is equivalent to an Advanced Diploma in Computer Applications. Students can acquire this qualification by undergoing this course and passing the examination conducted by the DOEACC Society. Working professionals can also appear in this examination directly, provided they possess the requisite educational qualification as indicated below.

Eligibility
i) For students appearing through an institute Level ‘O’ /Government recognized polytechnic engineering diploma after class 10. Followed in each case, by an accredited ‘A’ level course (no concurrency). A Government recognized polytechnic engineering diploma after 10+2 / Graduate and an accredited ‘A’ level course in each case.
ii) For students-at-large (Direct Applicants)Level ‘O’/Government recognized polytechnic engineering diploma/Graduate. Followed in each case, by one year relevant experience*. The ‘A’ level diploma will awarded only after successful completion of the academic stream i.e. polytechnic engineering diploma after 10+2 or degree.
*Relevant experience connotes job experience in IT, including teaching in a recognized institution as faculty member, excludes coaching.

Syllabus
The syllabus for ‘A’ level has been diversified. It contains:
- Nine compulsory module and,
- One elective papers.

In the diversified syllabi, new subjects have been added as electives and certain amendments have been made to the syllabus on some of the subjects. All the subjects prior to diversification have been retained on diversification of the syllabus, with the amendments mentioned above.

The syllabus for ‘A’ level can be obtained by post or in person from the DOEACC Society at a cost of Rs.150/- .
Examination: Examination for ‘A’ level will be held only under the diversification syllabus from January 2000 onwards. ‘A’ level as a whole is a sub-set of ‘B’.

Project
At ‘A’ Level there is one project. 100 marks are assigned. The project has to be submitted along with a fee of Rs 500/- and a certificate is to accompany it. A viva-voce will be conducted by an expert nominated by the DOEACC Society, as far as possible near the candidate’s location.

To meet up with shortage of information technology professionals, we propose to launch a Three years distance learning BCA – Bachelor in Computer Applications course in new-age information technology arena. This course will focus on in demand technologies such as Information Security, Artificial Intelligence, Bioinformatics, Data Mining and analytics, Java, .Net, Oracle, Linux, Data Structures, C, C++ among others in its 3 year curriculum and would be based on international university pattern. The course will offer specializations in 5th and 6th semester as per the IT used industry sectors such as Telecom, Retail, IT/ITES, Manufacturing, etc. The degree issued by GGSIPU will be BCA with specialization in Telecom/Retail/IT/ITES/Manufacturing, etc. depending on electives chosen in 4th and 5th Semester.

Award of BCA degree

The duration of the entire programme shall be 3 years comprising of 6 semesters, namely, I, II, III,  IV, V and VI semesters. It will have 3 Modules. Module-1 shall be comprised of first year of the programme, namely, Ist and IInd semesters, Module-2 shall be comprised of second year of the   programme i.e., IIIrd and IVth semesters and Module-3 shall be comprised of the third year of the programme i.e., Vth and VIth  semesters.

The total credits of the programme shall be 120 ; all the three Modules, i.e., Module-1, Module-2 and Module-3  shall be comprised of 40 credits each.

“Passed in 12th class or 10+2 of CBSE or equivalent examination”.

The BCA provides an understanding and skills related to the use of computer and its application. The basic objective of the programme is to open a channel of admission for computing courses for Students, who have done the 10+2 and are interested in taking computing as a career. After acquiring the Bachelors Degree (BCA) at IGNOU, there is a further educational opportunity to go for an MCA at IGNOU or Masters programme at other Universities.

The minimum duration of the course is 3 years ad the maximum duration is 6 years. The facilities for counselling and practical second and third year will, however, not automatically be extended after first year of study. Practical sessions in subsequent years is at the discretion of the University and subject to payment for the same.

Eligibility Criteria

10+2 with Mathematics as a distinct subject. Those who have not studied mathematics as a distinct subject at 10+2 level will have to register for both MTE-03 and CIC along with Ist semester of BCA. Such students have to successfully complete CIC and MTE-03 before registering for the 3rd semester of the BCA programme.

Eligibility

a) passed senior secondary (12th Standard/Intermediate) examination with Mathematics as one of the subjects from Central Board of Secondary Education or any other examination recognized by Jamia Hamdard as equivalent thereto, securing at least 50% marks.
b) not more than 23 years of age on October 1, of the respective year.
c) appeared in the Entrance Test conducted by Jamia Hamdard for the purpose.

For admission against NRI/Industry Sponsored seats, written test is not required.
